How to use Yoast SEO Plugin

Yoast SEO Plugin

Yoast SEO Plugin – Reasons to make this your plugin

When you create your new blog or website, one of the things you need to be aware of its how well your post/blog will fare against all the other websites that might have a similar topic. For that one of the tools you use is an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) plugin. There are a lot of different ones out there you can use, and all it takes is a simple search to find them. At Wealthy Affiliate you get the All in One SEO plugin, but personally, I prefer the Yoast SEO Plugin and I will explain why it is .

Why Yoast SEO Plugin?

I choose Yoast due to the fact that it helps me reduce the amounts of plugins needed on my webpage (more about that in a little bit) and that it has a feature that guides you to write a post/blog that has a bigger chance to make it the first page of the search engines. How those feature works are that you tell Yoast what your keyword is and then Yoast will let you know how your writing is coming along based on the keyword you use. Let me show you some visual examples to make it easier to understand:
This is a screenshot of the Yoast SEO Plugin as I was writing this blog. As you can see I have added my keyword in the keyword box and then Yoast tells me what looks great on my blog and what I need to do better. You are aiming to get all green lights, but it is okay if you have one or two orange lights. For example, you might not have an outbound link yet or your keyword density is lighter. Just make sure all the red lights are gone. When you first begin to write your blog, you will see a bunch of red lights, but as you write your blog they will automatically change.
The focus point that points to keyword density is one area where you shouldn’t worry if it turns orange. All depending of what training you follow or what article you read online you will see a different opinion on how much you should stuff your keywords into your blog/post. Yoast has a tendency to want a few more keywords than you might be told by others, so it is all up to personal preference. You don’t want to over stuff your blog with keywords, because Google doesn’t like that, so just use you best judgement. As long as it sounds natural when reading your blog, you will be fine. Read more about keywords here. Here you can see what Yoast told me after I finished writing this blog and made the corrections that I felt I needed:

Other benefits of Yoast SEO Plugin.

As I mentioned, in the beginning, this plugin allows you to delete a few plugins that you no longer need. First of all after downloading and installing Yoast, you will be given the option to import your settings from the SEO plugin you previously used. After that is done and you have confirmed that Yoast works as wanted, you can delete your previous SEO plugin. Yoast also comes with an automated sitemap, so you will not need the Google sitemap plugin anymore

.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Download Yoast plugin here

Yoast also gives you the option to watch training videos and tutorials on how to use their plugin to benefit even more from it. You can also choose to get your page websites reviewed and they will let you know their recommendations on how to improve to increase traffic to your website. Be aware that some of these extra features are premium features which mean you pay for them. Some of these premium features are pretty expensive and you can get a lot of the same help with Wealthy Affiliate

 Final Thoughts

I found Yoast by following some very successful people on Wealthy Affiliate and they really recommended it. I tried it out on one of my other websites and within a couple of weeks, I saw an increase in traffic to that particular website. I have since implemented Yoast on all my websites and have not had any issues so far.
When you first install this plugin and if you are new to the online affiliate program like I was when I first installed it, you will probably see a lot of red lights on all your blogs/posts. Don’t let that discourage you, it doesn’t mean that you have done it all wrong, it could just mean that the algorithm that Yoast uses to prep your for firstpage search engines differs from the one you used before. Most of the times it will just be the placing of your keywords that causes the red lights.
Yoast SEO Plugin is a great plugin for newbies or people struggling to get traffic, due to the fact that it does keep you on track while you write. After a few months of use, you will probably have it down and the writing will come naturally and it will be all green lights from there on.
